FORMER NEBRASKA STATE PATROL EMPLOYEE ARRESTED FOR STOLEN DRUGS FROM EVIDENCE ROOM

George Weaver Jr., 37, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine and fentanyl.

In exchange for his plea, additional counts of conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine, as well as distributing a cocaine and fentanyl mixture resulting in serious bodily injury will be dismissed at sentencing.

Officials said Weaver’s girlfriend, Anna Idigima, 37, of Lincoln, was a Nebraska State Patrol employee who worked in the evidence unit when the drugs were stolen from an evidence storage facility. She then allegedly gave them to Weaver to sell.

The stolen drugs have been traced to drug deaths and have led prosecutors to drop cases.

Last month, Idigma, 37, pleaded guilty to a federal charge of distributing and possessing cocaine and fentanyl.

Weaver is scheduled to be sentenced on June 16, while Idigima is scheduled to be sentenced on May 25.

Both face mandatory minimum prison sentences of 20 years in prison with a maximum of life. There is no parole in the federal system.
